It was certainly a year to remember for Halen Knoll. The Edmonton product was dynamite on the mound to start the spring with the Edmonton Collegiate Hawks, leading the CCBC with 70 strikeouts while registering a 3-4 record and a 3.39 ERA en route to being named a First-Team All-Canadian and a finalist for league MVP. After a stint with the WCL’s Edmonton Riverhawks, Knoll traveled up to Fort McMurray for a return to the Giants, where he continued his dominant ways, posting a 5-1 record and a 2.66 ERA in ten games to be named a WCBL All-Star, while helping the Giants to their first post-season berth. To put a cherry on top for the year, the 22-year-old accepted a scholarship to play at the University of Mary in North Dakota. That’s where he was when we caught up with him earlier this week to talk about his baseball journey, what’s to come, and his love of escape rooms.
